The freestyle encounters of the 2016 Asian Wrestling Championships was followed on Sunday morning in Bangkok, with Iranian representatives of the second four weight classes meeting rivals.
Accordingly, Behnam Ehsanpoor in 61kg out powered the Japanese freestyler in the first round 15-4 before he defeated the Indian wrester by technical fall 10-0 in the second round.
Ehsanpoor had to subdue the Mongolian rival 2-1 in order to find his way to the final round where he will face Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan.
In 70kg weight category, Iran’s Mohammad Naderi struck an off draw in the first round while he obtained 10-0 victory over the Thai wrestler.
However, Naderi had to concede a 2-7 defeat against the Bahrain’s Adam Batirov in the semifinal and will compete against Nobuyoshi Takojima of Japan over the third and fourth places.
Meanwhile, Iranian freestyler at 86kg Ehsan Lashgari overcame Kazakh (5-0) and Japanese (10-2) freestylers in the first two rounds before he hammered India’s Somveer Somveer by technical fall securing a place in the final match against Uitumen Orgodol of Mongolia.
Moreover, Iran’s Parviz Hadi skillfully executed technical falls over Mongolian and Paki wrestlers and later overwhelmed Koungjin Nam of South Korea to set up a date with Daulet Shabanbay of Kazakhstan in the final encounter.
Considering the three gold medal bagged on the first day of the event as well as the finalists of the second day, Iran has been introduced as the early champion of the 2016 Asian Competitions underway in Bangkok, Thailand.
